Historic First for Odisha: Swayangsu Satyakam Becomes the State’s First Officially Licensed FIDE School Instructor

In a proud and historic moment for Odisha’s chess and education fraternity, Swayangsu Satyakam, Director of Chessturf Academy and a FIDE National Instructor, has been officially recognized as the first licensed FIDE School Instructor from Odisha.

Mr. Satyakam successfully completed the prestigious FIDE EDU – Preparation of Teachers (POT) program as part of the 26th batch, a globally recognized certification aimed at integrating chess into mainstream education. The intensive training was conducted under the expert guidance of renowned FIDE educators Anzel Laubscher, Rita Aitkins, and Jerry Nash, all stalwarts in the field of chess in education.

The milestone was formally marked at the FIDE Conference held at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, where Swayangsu Satyakam received his FIDE School Instructor Certificate directly from Chairman Jerry Nash and Secretary Rita Aitkins. The moment not only celebrated a personal achievement but also signified a major step forward for Odisha in adopting structured, internationally approved chess-in-education programs.

This recognition reinforces Chessturf Academy’s commitment to educational chess, teacher training, and holistic student development, and positions Odisha prominently on the global map of FIDE’s Chess in Schools initiative. The achievement is expected to inspire educators across the state to embrace chess as a powerful learning tool that builds critical thinking, discipline, and decision-making skills in young minds. ♟️🏆
